Thompson, J., 1997. American Arctic Lichens: The Microlichens.
Thallus coralloid or granulose-coralloid to 2 mm thick, forming small cushions, lemon-yellow to yolk-colored. Apothecia rare, to 1.5 mm broad; margin granulose or disappearing, paler than disk; disk flat or slightly convex, dull, smooth, lemon-yellow to greenish yellow or blackening; hypothecium hyaline; epithecium granulose, yellow, lemon-yellow, greenish, or blackening; hymenium 65-75 μm, 1+ blue; paraphyses simple to slightly branched, slender, 3-3.5 μm, not capitate; spores numerous, hyaline, oblong to ellipsoid, mostly curved, 10-14 x 4.5-6 μm.

This species is found on well-manured rocks and also on well-manured shingles and palings. Although deemed cosmopolitan by Hakulinen (1954), it is seemingly rare in North America, only a scattering of specimens having been seen.
