Genus description:Thallus foliicolous, continuous or dispersed, uneven to verrucose, lacking or with short, dark setae usually formed on a translucent prothallus. Apothecia adnate (to erumpent), spot-like; disc chocolate-brown to brown-black; proper margin absent, in the type species often with a thin thalline margine. Excipulum hyphal. Hypothecium prosoplectenchymatous, pale. Epithecium (dark) brown. Ascospores variably septate. Hyphophores unknown.
