Thallus consisting of black- or dark-brown minute granules covering large areas with parts of naked stone between or consisting of 2-4 mm broad, scattered thalli, hypothallus concolorous. Apothecia dense or most often scattered, sessile, with thallus only at base, high verruciform, 0.2-0.25 mm diam., mouth not impressed, hardly visible.—Thallus beside apothecia 100-150 µ thick, covering the base or reaching the middle of the apothecia, outside apothecia to 200 µ thick, Algae 5-6 u diam. usually in clumps at base, often with stone fragments.
Exciple 180 µ broad, 160 µ high, subglobose, base about 15 µ thick, +/- brownish pale, laterally 15-17 µ with parallel, stretched cells. Involucrellum enclosing the exciple to base, laterally 35 µ thick, black, at top 20 µ, cells on inside +/- distinct, 5-7 µ long, apparently +/- absent at base and not protruded there. Nucleus I+ pale blue, periphyses (sic) 12-15 µ long. Asci 50 X 15 µ, filling up the interior. Spores 15-17 X 7-8 µ, ellipsoid.
