Thallus snow-white, granular, granules to 0.5 mm, convex, dull. Apothecia minute, 0.4-0.6 mm, adnate, convex, blackish brown, bare or slightly pruinose; exciple excluded; hypothecium blackish brown, upper side wavy; epihymenium pale; hymenium 50-60 μm, hyaline, 1+ blue; paraphyses gelatinized, 1-1.5 μm; asci gelatinized; spores 8, ellipsoid, 8-12 x 3-5 μm. This species grows on soil. It is known only from one locality in Sweden, from one in North America in the Reindeer Preserve, Northwest Territories (Ahti et al. 1973), and from another at the Kaolak River, northern Alaska (Thomson 1979).
