Thallus thin-crustose, of minute whitish granules or obsolete; hypothallus lacking. Apothecia minute, 0.2-0.3 mm, simple or partly confluent, base constricted, becoming convex, pale flesh-pink or yellowish-ashy, commonly thinly pruinose; exciple pale, becoming excluded; hypothecium pale; hymenium hyaline, 40-50 μm; paraphyses coherent, tips partly thickened; spores biseriate, hyaline, ellipsoid, 9-13 x 2-3 μm.
Reactions: hymenium 1+ blue.
This species grows on the bark of Salix, Betula, Picea, and sometimes on old wood and over fungi. It is reported from Scandinavia, Siberia, Alaska, the Northwest Territories, and the Great Lakes region.
