Thallus thin to disappearing, pale, chinky-areolate.
Apothecia round or elongate and fissurate, to 0.6 mm long, 0.2mm broad, parallel or irregularly placed, brown; exciple brown, thin, lacking at base of apothecium; disk more or less open; hymenium I+ blue; paraphysses not branched, lax in KOH; asci clavate; spores 8, biseriate, hyaline, simple, oblong with rounded tips, 9-11 X 3-4 µm.

This species grows on old wood. Thus far it is known only from Siberia but may be sought in the American Arctic.
