Thallus almost lacking, white traces around perithecia. Perithecia adnate to the rock or with base slightly immersed, 0.2-0.3 mm broad, black, ostiole slightly depressed; exciple black above, pale below; involucrellum lacking; gelatin 1+ red; spores hyaline, muriform with few cells, 3-5-septate transversely, 1- or 2-septate longitudinally, 22-26 X 13-17 µm.
This species grows on noncalcareous rocks and pebbles. It is a rare arctic species reported from Novaya Zemlya, Spitzbergen, northern Norway, Disko Island, Greenland, and the Northwest Territories, where it occurred in collections from The Dean, northern Ellesmere Island, and from Freeman’s Cove, Bathurst Island.
