Only traces of thallus visible, dark gray and granular. Apothecia to 0.7-1 mm broad, dark reddish brown or rusty brown, flat to slightly convex; margin of same color as or paler than disk, not prominent, soon pressed back; margin with radiating hyphae, outer part dark reddish yellow; hypothecium gray; epihymenium dark reddish; hymenium 70-100 µm, hyaline, 1+ dark blue; paraphyses coherent, 1.5—1.7 µm, tips to 1.7 µm, not thickened or to 3 µm; spores polarilocular, narrow, 11-17 X 3.5-6 µm, septum 3.5-4 µm.
This species grows on old wood. It is reported from Spitzbergen, Richards Island at the mouth of the Mackenzie River (Ahti et al. 1973) on driftwood, and Disko Island, Greenland (Hansen,,Poelt, & S0chting 1987).
