Thallus light brown, continuous with few cracks, bumpy/scurfy; prothallus seen as dark contact lines. Thallus 104-130 um thick, homoimerous with epinecral layer, 20 um thick; photobiont abundant throughout, trentepohlioid. Ascomata apothecoid, round, lecideine, constricted at base, 0.4-0.5 mm dia.; excipular rim prominent in young ascomata, level with disk; disk black, epruinose. Exciple carbonized, up to 40 um thick laterally, brown and thin below hypothecium, 13 um. Epithecium olive green (!), with crystals, 25 um thick; hymenium hyaline, 78 um high (52 um without epithecium), K/I+ blue turning orange. subhymenium and hypothecium hyaline (original notes “hypothecium dark brown” is misinterpretation of exciple). Paraphyses free, simple; not or few branched; tips narrow, hyaline. Asci clavate-cylindrical, 80.5 x 13.0 um, tholus K/I+ pale blue. Spores hyaline, acicular-fusiform, 18-22 x 3-4 um (!), 5-6-celled (!). Pycnidia frequent, globose-subglobose, buried in thallus, roof brown, interior K/I+ blue, 78 um dia. Spot tests: UV-, K-, PD+ yellow (psoromic acid).
