Vegetative hyphae: colorless, some pale brown, c. 4 µm in diam. Pseudothecia: black, globose, semi-immersed to immersed, 50-80 µm high and 50-80 µm wide wall: mostly 10-12 µm thick, upper part dark brown, lower part brown, consisting of 2-3 cell layers hamathecium: periphyses and pseudoparaphyses of type a, c. 1.5 µm in diam., c. 6 µm long asci: clavate, 30-34 x 11-13 µm, 8spored; endoascus: I- and KI- ascospores: hyaline, 1-septate, constricted at the septa, each cell with 2 oil droplets, elongate-oblong, 10-14 x 3-4 µm, obtuse-ended; walls: smooth, thin, without halo, I- Pycnidia: not seen. Hosts: thallus of Toninia physaroides and T. tristis; in New Mexico and Arizona on terricolous T. tristis World distribution: Europe, and North America (U.S.A.) Sonoran distribution: northern Arizona.
