Pseudothecia: black, immersed ascomatal wall: brown, basally somewhat paler and 20-30 µm thick, near ostiolum distinctly thickened paraphysoids: absent periphyses: septate asci: broadly clavate, 45-60 x 15-20 µm, c. 8spored ascospores: medium brown, young spores near the septum dark brown, 1-septate, with transverse, median septum, young spores with distinct torus at the septum, broadly ellipsoid to broadly fusiform, (13-)14-17(-18) x 7-9 µm; wall: thick and smooth or distinctly verrucose (young spores with compact perispore) Pycnidia: not seen. Hosts: on the thallus, rarely apothecia of Aspicilia species World distribution: Europe and North America Sonoran distribution: Eastern Arizona.
