Description: Thallus areolate; areoles round to irregular, discrete to continuous; rim down-turned; upper surface brown with some bluish-gray, plane to convex, smooth; apothecia punctiform to round, angular, one or more per areole, sometimes apothecia filling the whole areole; disc black, plane to concave, lightly pruinose; asci 100+ spore; ascospores hyaline, simple, broadly ellipsoid
