thallus greenish, small verruculose-areolate; apothecia dark red-brown with byssoid outercoating when young at least under margin, flat, thick, constricted, thick concolorous rim; epihymenium seakly orange-brownish; hymenium ~75um, hyaline, clear, with coarse dark gray "granules" turning K+green and K/HCl+purple; subhymenium orange-brownish; hypothecium redder or darker orange-brown, turning "colder" brown in K; exciple orange-brownish ar edge to hyaline inside but merging with orange-brown hypothecium below, radiating hyphae in gel with rounded cells to 5-6um at edge; asci porpidia-type (some with obvious long narrow cylindrical not tapering tube); spores 8 per ascus, simple, ellipsoid, hyaline, ~13x4-5um
