Habitat: old aspen grove on gently sloping south shore of small lake
Substrate: live aspen fallen into pond
Notes: thin white crust, scattered to clustered apothecia starting perithecioid soon discose and slightly constricted, disk gray-green peppered with ome black pigment epruinose matte, rims white waxy very thick and soon deeply cracked, rims and disks K- C+o KC+o strong, epihymenium brown with fine ~brown granules inspersed between paraphyses tips POL+ clearing in K but not dissolving, hymenium hyaline clear ~60-70um, amphithecium with thick cortex compressed vertically cortex 40um above to 50um below filled with fine granules above and laterally strongly POL+ not clearing in K, large crystals scattered below amphithecium, algal layer continuous and thin within amphithecium leaving narrow layer between subhymenium and algal layer without algae, spores 8 per ascus ~broadly ellipsoid 10-11x5-6um with visible wall in K
