Habitat: north slope at bottom of valley, dominated by _Artemisia tridentata_ with some scattered _Juniperus osteospermum_, geology a mix of rhyolite / tuff and granitic intrusives
Substrate: on top of limestone outcrop
Associated Species: Lecidella stigmatea, Myriolecis semipallida, Physcia dubia, Rusavskia elegans
Notes: thallus placodioid, areolate; areoles flat to weakly convex, epruinose, somewhat imbricate, yellowish-greenish; cortex ~45-50um, strongly brown-granular POL+, clearing entirely in K, prosoplect., half eucortex and half epicortex, some algal cells in epicortex, K~y C- KC+y strong P~y weak UV- 350nm UV+y 375nm strong; medulla white, thick, solid, K+y C- KC+o strong P~y very weak? UV- 350nm; algae continuous and even; apothecia soon sessile; disk tan to reddish near margins, epruinose; rims with algal layer continuous in rims and below hypothecium; epihymenium dark brown, finely inspersed, POL+ strong and fine, clearing completely in K; hymenium ~50-60um, clear; asci lecanora-type; spores 8 per ascus ~8-9x6um
