thallus strongly and densely pruinose, rosulate; apothecia flexuose, strongly pruinose; epihymenium and outer exciple dark faintly purplish gray-black, turning violet in K; hymenium ~brownish; hypothecium red-brownish at top to mostly hyaline below; exciple red-brownish inside at top to paler below; medulla strongly POL+ not clearing in K at all; spores 8 per ascus, ~18-20x3um, 1-septate
