thallus crowded-areolate, bright yellow, epruinose; areoles tall and stipe-forming with ~flat tops, angular; cortex ~50um, with half yellow-brown, no epinecral layer, C- in section (twice); algal layer thick with a few scattered hyphal bundles penetrating (best seen as C starts to clear it); apothecia flush, rough, dark brown, angular, epruinose; epihymenium red-brown; hymenium ~125um; parathecium much expanded at top; paraphyses with 1 to a few swollen cells at tips, with dark brown cap, ~3um at tip; spores many per ascus, ~3.5-4.5x2.5-3um
