Notes: pale gray-brown shiny verruculose thallus, cortex K- or K+y C- KC- or KC+ fleeting but striking violet UV+ white strong 350nm, medulla K- C- KC- UV- 350nm, apothecia sessile small thick flat, disk dark brown epruinose flat, rims even to slightly raised thalline sometimes with pale orange inner ring (or outer ring of disk?), epihymenium brown POL-, hymenium ~80um hyaline clear, parathecium brown and thin, amphithecium brown outside strongly POL+ clearing in K except for coarse (3-4x1.5um rectangular) crystals in cortex of rims, cortex ~25um even, paraphyses septate thick swelling a bit at tips branched sparingly toward tips but separating easily in water or K, asci lecanora-type with very broad canal and thin thollus near maturity, spores 4 or 8 per ascus fusiform with strongly attenuate tips often assymetrical ~12x5um
