thallus dispersed areolate, no hypothallus/prothallus; areoles almost squamulose, pale grayish, K+ norstictic crystals; medulla I+v below; apothecia erumpent, briefly with thalline veil, soon adnate to sessile, black, rim persistent and well-developed, epruinose, to ~0.7-0.8mm; epihymenium dark brown; hymenium clear, ~50-60um; hypothecium dark brown; exciple dispersa-type, K/HCl+ greenish above, POL+ in outer half, K+ norstictic crystals; spores 8 per ascus, buellia-type, weakly constricted when (over)mature, ~12-13x5-6um; conidia oblong-ellipsoid, ~3-5x1-1.5um
