Notes: thallus areolate; areoles convex, roundish, gray-brown; medulla K- C- KC- UV- KUV- P-; apothecia sessile, black, thick prominent rim soon excluded, disk concave to flat soon convex; epihymenium gray-black, K+v; exciple gray-black (K+v) outside, red-brown inside; hypothecium red-brown; hymenium ~100um, clear; paraphyses swollen at tips to ~6-7um; asci bacidia-type; spores 8 per ascus, 1-septate, hyaline, constricted, ~13-15x6-7um
