thallus rimose-areolate, pale grayish, K- UV- KUV-; apothecia immersed to finally sessile, black with pale gray thalline rim, very thin black inner proper margin, epruinose; epihymenium brown, K~ purplish weak and very slow; hymenium ~80um, inspersed, clearing somewhat in K; hypothecium inspersed with tiny and large oil drops, merging into parathecium; parathecium paraplect at top, thick gelatinized radiating prosoplect below hymenium, ~hyphae 5um thick (in K), top ~gray-brown K+v; cortex strongly gray granular POL+ not or scarcely clearing in K, K~v weak and only near top, ~25-30um thick; paraphyses simple or branched at very top, end cell or two end cells weakly to more strongly swollen to ~2.5-5um wide; spores 8 per ascus, ellipsoid, ~12-13x5-6um septum ~1-2um
