ID Remarks: This probably merits segregation from X. fallax on grounds of its distinctly narrower lobes, radiate growth pattern and distinct unbroken ramifications. It is the "Teloschistes lychneus f. laciniosa" of Tuckerman, Synopsis N. Amer. Lich. 1: 51. 1882, at least as to the Texas collection of Wright. Monographic study may reveal an available name for it.

Habitat: Quercus stellata woodlands. In dusty roadside sites and in urban areas.
Substrate: Extremely abundant on Quercus.
