Locality: U.S.A., Colorado, Conejos, Along Conejos River 4 miles S of Platoro.
Elevation: 2866 meters Verbatim Elevation: 9400 ft.
Habitat: Rhyolite cliff. Growing along seepage lines, in wetter sites than C. elegans on the same rocks.
Notes: Possibly a site modification of C. elegans in microhabitats where water flows over the thalli, bringing soil from above which fills the interstices between the lobes, stimulating them to grow erect and form a pulvinate fruticulose crust. Nevertheless, there were no clearly intermediate states in this area.
