The records listed below are based on erroneous reports of species cited from this area; these records are not to be confused with taxa previously reported, but now considered synonyms. Nash (2002) placed Verrucaria circumspersella into synonymy of Thelidium circumspersellum, but also suggested that the taxon was absent from North America [also see Nash (2007)].

In North America, only known in Mexico (Clerc 2004); the name was originally published as U. shimadai, but this spelling is orthographically incorrect
