thallus whitish to yellowish verrucose-areolate, areoles strongly bullate, prothallus white with some yellow spots, K+y intense C~y in places? KC? UV-, apothecia ~round, disk dark red-brown epruinose, rims smooth slightly prominant not at all blackened inside, epihymenium pale brown POL- not granular K-, hymenium ~75um, amphithecium cortex ~25-50um gelatinous obscured by abundant POL+ granules clearing in K, amphithecium medulla strongly POL+ clearing in K no large crystals in several thick sections from several well-developed apothecia, spores 8 per ascus 13-18x5-8um averaging around 15-16x6um
