This is the most highly wind/chemical eroded thallus form; the apothecia, being denser than the areolae, persist, lose their angularity when no longer confined by thalline areolae, and become slightly convex. All gradations from typically developed thalli to those reduced to mere leach-marks on the stone are present here.
