Ecology: Terricolous (alpine); growing sun-exposed. Thallus: Crustose, squamulose; lobes ascending; branches densely aggregated, clustered, or loosely aggregated; separate thallus parts 5-12 mm long; 5-7 mm wide. Primary Thallus: Evanescent or persistent. Secondary Thallus: Present, arising from edge of the primary thallus, of indeterminate? growth; stipe 10-25 mm high, 1-3.5 mm wide, lime green (like primary squamules, abundantly maculate), tainted brown, corticate, with longitudinally split or perforated wall. Thallus Outline: Margin crenulate (to lobed). Upper Surface: Lime green (yellow-green (121) to greyish greenish yellow (105)), smooth; not sorediate. Lower Surface: White. Lower Cortex: Absent. Reproduction Strategy: Only known as sterile, asexually reproducing form. Ascocarps: Sparse. Disk: Brown. Conidiomata: Formed on podetia. Secondary Metabolites: Atranorin or fumarprotocetraric acid, of the following substance class(es): ß-orcinol depsides or ß-orcinol depsidones. Spot Tests: Upper surface: K + bright yellow (citrine, lemon), C –, PD + red.Conidiomata: Formed on podetia.
