Crust very thick, continuous, unequal or almost obsolete, ashy or rather whitish, opaque, KOH-. Apothecia crowded together, sessile, base apparently constricted, 0.4-0.8 mm broad, thalline margin thin, eventually characteristic, absolutely entire subpersistent, disc plane for a long time, eventually convex, yellow or yellow-brick red/brownish-yellow, opaque. Excipuli marginal part enfolding gonidia (globose, diam. up to 10 µ), cortex thick below, above very thin, central part (and subhymenium) formed from crowded, pachydermatous, woven together, and irregular hyphae, hyaline. Hymenium (thecium) 80-100 µ tall, inspersed with yellow granules above, I (chiefly asci) persistently becoming blue, KHO above rose-becoming violet. Paraphyses simple, c. 1.5 µ thick, thick above, up to 2.5 µ thick, not or indistinctly moniliform. Asci inflated-clavate, membrane in apices somewhat/a little thick. Spores 8, oblong or ellipsoid-oblong, 13-17 µ long, 5-6 µ thick, membrane in apices thin, septum 1/3-1/2 long.
