Thallus of small, 1 mm broad, areolae, irregularly papilliform above, edges of areolae slightly raised, blackish; hyphal cells rounded and loosely arranged. Apothecia several per areola, in prominent papillae, entirely immersed, urceolate, with punctate ostiole; thalloid margin only slightly projecting above areola surface; margin hyphae parallel; hypothecium of parallel hyphae; epihymenium red-brown; hymenium 85-120 μm, paraphyses I— and asci 1+ wine-red; paraphyses anastomosing; asci cylindrical; spores 16, simple, hyaline, ovate or nearly spherical, 4.5-5.5 x 4.5 fxm according to Henssen (1963b), 8-12 x 4—5 μm according to Dahl (1950).
This species grows on dry rocks with Placynthium aspratile. It is known only from the type locality at Kangerdluarssuk, Julianehaab District, Greenland.
