Notes: dark brown squamulose-crustose thallus, apothecia large irregular flexuose black flat to slightly convex with thick even black margin, epihymenium blue-black POL- K-, hymenium hyaline ~70um clear, hypothecium hyaline to slightly brownish with faint POL+ crystals not clearing in K, exciple violet dark-brown at margin to pale brownish inside K- POL-, spores hyaline slightly broader at one end 3-4-septate ~20-30x4um
