thin to immersed whitish thallus, K+ weakly yellowish C- KC-, apothecia black and strongly convex and relatively large in old age, apothecia kind of bumpy an rough in age, epihymenium green-black turning vivid green in K, exciple green-black at outer edge (cell walls) to hyaline in interior, hypothecium hyaline to faintly brownish in thick sections, hymenium hyaline with oil drops, paraphyses ~unbranched with unswollen tips stuck together even in K, paraphyses tips (mature ones) cause green-black pigment, spores 8 per ascus hyaline simple elliptical ~8x3um, ascus rather broad and obpyriform when mature with dark blue unfeatured? thollus tip in K/I
