cortex with thick epinecral layer, irregular hyphae in thick gelatin, K+ abundant norstictic crystals; algal layer strongly interrupted with pycnidia and hyphal "nodules" throughout; epihymenium brown to green, K+ greener where green; hymenium ~40um, clear; subhymenium hyaline; amph cortex ~40-50um, gelatinized, brown- to green-capped end cells, K+ norstictic crystals; paraphyses strongly stuck together even in K; asci lecanora-type; spores 8 per ascus, hyaline, simple, oblong-ellipsoid, ~12-13x4um
