thallus rimose-areolate, pale to medium gray; areoles tiny angular to larger and irregularly polygonal, flat to irregularly convex, P+y turning strong orange; apothecia black, raised, often with apparently black lecideine rim from thin darkened thalline rim, epruinose, ~round, larger to much larger than surrounding areoles; epihymenium blue-green to mostly olive to olive-brown; hymenium ~80-90um, I+r; paraphyses strongly moniliform; exciple strongly I+v all the way around hymenium and under; spores 8 per ascus, ~13-17x10um; conidia ~15-25um; TLC stictic + minor norstictic + hyposalazinic + connorstictic + trace consticic (JPH plate 24.27 on 20171025)
