Life form.Life form: Lichenicolous fungus.
Thallus absent; photobiont absent. Ascomata perithecoid, clustered or dispersed, immersed becoming superficial; immersed parts hyaline to brown, exposed parts black; margin distinct. Asci 35-45 x 6-5-8 μm; ascospores (8-)9-11(-14) x 2-3(-3-5) μm.
Substrate and Habitat. On Lepraria-neglecta group of dust lichens on rocks and soil.
Distribution. Europe and North and South America; in North Carolina found in the Piedmont ecoregion.
