[The current identification is Anisomeridium biforme but is filed as Trimmatothele umbellulariae due to type status.] Lendemer: This is the type of T. umbellulariae Herre. Herre mentions a lack of paraphyses and asci in the protologue and gives ascospore measurements. The size of the "ascospores" matches the size of the microconidia of Anisomeridium biforme (Borrer) R.C.Harris. The lack of paraphyses and asci mentioned in the protologue supports the conclusion that Herre misinterpreted microconidia as ascospores. I found a single fertile perithecium with ascospores (slide preserved with specimen) clearly placing the specimen in Anisomeridium. Robert Lucking examined the specimen and found the microconidia also to agree with A. biforme. Thus: Trimmatothele umbellulariae = Anisomeridium biforme (Borrer) R.C. Harris.
