Lichen. On branches of Fouquieria diguetii. Thallus branches appearing mostly heart shaped in x-section; cortex as seen under the microscope appearing partly hyaline and yellowish-brown, colliculate, not granular except in apothecia; medulla a network of braided cords separated by helically intewoven hyphal cells, periclinally oriented, spores numbering 4 or 8 in asci. TLC (4-Feb. 1987, 28-July 1987, 28-Oct. 1987, 13-Nov. 1987): Zeorin (trace) in all tests, usnic acid noted in one test. Similar results also found on three occasions from another packet with the same number.
