Life habit: lichenicolous, commensalistic, non-lichenized Ascomata: perithecial, black, small, immersed to slightly erumpent, spherical to broadly ellipsoid exciple: dark brown, composed of conglutinated hyphae with isodiametric to elongate lumina in vertical section involucrellum: absent hymenium: hyaline, I- and KI-; subhymenium: hyaline, thin paraphyses: present at maturity, filiform, simple, apically not enlarged periphyses: present, simple asci: clavate to cylindrical, unitunicate; wall: thin, apically not thickened, without a distinct ocular chamber, without any amyloid reactions (I- and KI-), 16-32-spored ascospores: hyaline, 3-septate, cells with oil drops, the two middle cells biguttulate, filiform, straight or sometimes slightly curved, with smooth walls Conidiomata: pycnidial, black, almost completely immersed in the host thallus; wall: hyaline but dark brown around the ostiole, K- conidia: hyaline, simple, bacilliform Geography: Europe, Asia, North America, and Papua New Guinea Substrate: thallus of Peltigera and Polychidium species.
