Thallus obsolete or very thin, moderately smooth and polished or slightly verruculose-unequal, white, lacking soredia, hypothallus indistinct. Apothecia minute, 0.3-0.4 mm broad, thin, base small or slightly constrictd, disc plane, black or rarely almost dark brownish/grayish-brownish, naked, moderately opaque or slightly shiny, margin thin, concolourous or dark brownish/grayish-brownish, shiny or opaque, often eventually excluded. Hypothecium white or pale, thin, hyphae irregularly woven together, laid upon a thalline layer containing gonidia. Lateral, inferior part of the perithecium myelohyphae layer arranged without gonidia. Epithecium intensely aeruginose-black or subolivaceous, KOH-. Paraphyses tightly coherent, not gelatinous, apices capitates or clavate. Spores 8, ellipsoid or partly globose, 0.007-0.005 (-0.009) mm long, 0.005 (0.003-0.006) mm thick.

Exterior appearance similar to Catillaria atropurpurea and form is like Biatora spp. going back to Lecanora obscurella (Sommerf.)Hedl.Apothecia thick, c. 0.120 mm, margin entire, initially slightly prominent.Hypothecium hyphae conglutinate, moderately leptodermatous.Perithecium margin exterior olivaceous or subaeruginose, subpale within, hyphae radiate, but leptodermatous, conglutinated, cavity thin, gonidia lacking.Hymenium c. 0.045 mm thick, >>I becoming blue>> (Vain. l.c.).Paraphyses simple, thin, apices 0.003-0.004 mm thick.Spores distichous.Gonidia cystococcoid, globose, diam. 0.010-0.016, membrane moderately thin.
